Pavol Harmanos is a Sales Director at Technical Solutions Eastern Europe & Marine Europe. He is a devoted father and a great colleague who inspires his team with his positive attitude and determination. He studied civil engineering and water resources management and hydrotechnics. As a child, he wanted to become a firefighter and in a way, he stayed true to the calling. With technical insulation that acts as a passive fire protection, Pavol probably prevented more fires than most of us.

How did your story at Knauf Insulation begin?

Back in year 2014 I was working as product manager of passive fire protection systems, and I was contacted by Knauf Insulation to join the product management team of Technical Solutions. This is probably not the story to inspire a move, but it sure represents an important event in my career.

What do you love the most about the insulation?

The variety of insulation applications seems almost limitless, which means that I’m constantly learning new things and it’s never boring. On top of that, insulation contributes to energy savings, which is a great purpose!

How do you see the future of insulation business?

Awareness of the positive impact of thermal insulation on energy savings in construction is good, but there is still room for improvement in technical insulation. Society is more and more realizing how valuable energy sources are. Taking proactive measures to save them is a very logical step. Therefore, I see bright future for insulation and looking forward to the innovations which will come in this field.

What is your favourite sport?

I like all kind of "board" sport such as snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing... As a spectator and fan I like hockey.

Who is your hero?

My family. My parents for teaching me life values, my wife who supports me all the time. And of course, my kids, bringing joy and constantly showing me to appreciate all the little things in life.

What would you do if you never started a career in insulation?

If I never started working in insulation business I would probably work in construction company. But if not, I've always been attracted to hospitality business, food and travels.

What did a Covid19 lockdown bring for you?

As we all stopped traveling, I could spend more time at home with my family. After the lockdown periods, we assessed priorities and decided to move from abroad closer to our families. It was also great to watch, how people all over the globe are supporting each other, creating new ideas and innovations which helped us adopt to the pandemic life. I believe this period showed us huge potentials for the future.
