More energy for less money
Energy-intensive processes quickly have a negative financial effect through insufficient insulation.
According to the Research Institute for Energy Economics (FfE) and annual energy costs can therefore be enormously reduced.
Our Mineral Wool products provide the optimum solution for every application and are therefore ideally suited for energy and cost-conscious usage.
Specialist knowledge
Economic insulation thickness
The decision criteria to go for technical insulation in industrial areas is mainly driven by the economic insulation thickness.
The initial investment costs to mount insulation material combined with the annually reduced heat lost costs which can be reached throughout the lifetime of the plant form the main components. The economic insulation thickness is reflected in the minimum of the sum of investment and heat lost costs.
The graph shows very clearly that the effect of insulation contributes directly to the reduction of energy costs. So it's an effective measurement to increase the energy efficiency in industrial applications.
Energy efficiency classes
In order to rate technical installations in industry and the technical building equipment according to their energy efficiency the VDI 4610 has developed energy efficiency classes respecting their heat and cold insulation. Not only the heat losses with the corresponding greenhouse gas emissions of the insulated objects are considered, but also the energy expenditure and the GHG emissions during the production of the insulation material. When classifying into the various energy efficiency classes, all GHG emissions associated with the insulation are determined and a life cycle assessment is established.
The advantage of this classification system shows its independence of the energy price. Through this system both, existing and new plants can be compared. In the planning of new plants, the space requirement for the respective insulation system, depending on the required energy efficiency class, can already be estimated and planned.
Thermal Insulation Performance Check (TIPCHECK) is a volunteer energy audit in industrial plants, which helps to unveil insulation potentials on applications in place.
Saving potentials
Ecofys study
The Ecofys-study, initiated by EIIF, confirms that Technical Insulation offers great energy saving potentials:
- With economic insulation the industry can save annually 480 PJ of energy and 37 Mt CO2. The industrial fuel consumption and emissions could be reduced by more than 4%.
- Additionally in coal power plants could be saved more than 140 PJ of energy and 12 Mt CO2 per year by using economic insulations.
These saving potentials can be reached in all regions, industrial sectors, type of installations and process temperature yields.
Reliable results for technical insulation thanks to VDI-certified calculation methods.
